The New Year is just getting started and it’s already started out ruff, so with that said I decided to restart my new year. February 1st was the start of my new year #JudgeMe and I have to say my new year is starting off pretty decent. I have a clear mind, I’m finally narrowing down my 2020 goals. One thing I had a hard time with was figuring out my 2020 word for the year, I wanted to choose something meaningful that would guide me through the year and be a compass throughout life’s many decisions, something that would encourage me to be the best version of myself. I settled on the word “Focus”.
: a center of activity, attraction, or attention
This year I choose FOCUS because no matter what goals I am trying to reach in a day or a year, I am always so easily distracted by anything and everything with social media and youtube, not to mention squirrels and butterflies and talking myself out of so many things.
FOCUS is my mantra for 2020. It is my little nudge to make sure I am doing things that matter. To make sure I am aligning my work with my priorities and goals and not just running in circles.
I want to point my energy towards the people and activities that are worthy of it. It is hard for me to say no to requests for favors, to a vibrating phone, to the siren song of mindless scrolling. But all of those things distract me from my work, family, friends, and health.
I am using the word focus, to remember to stop multi-tasking and go all-in on mono-tasking. I’m going to make a strong effort to write effective to-do lists that are achievable with specific to do’s (instead of “reply to all e-mails”). I’m going to try to set myself up for success in the time I’m working. And I’m hopeful that all of these things will help me focus on whatever task is at hand at any given moment.
To help me stay focused this year I’m using Her Space CO. planner which is a life system for the modern woman. I love this planner and it’s signature components built around 12 areas of the modern woman’s life which will definitely help me stay focused throughout the year. Be sure to check it out here!
So what’s your word for the year? And if you have yet to choose a word try to dig a little deeper and focus on your needs and wants. Remember your word only has to be meaningful to you and you can keep it completely to yourself if you wish.
