Recently, there has been a huge focus on body image in mainstream media. There has been the on-going debate about “plus-size” and whether or not shops/designers should sell and market the same straight sizes clothes in plus sizes as well. As a plus size girl myself I would love to see myself (size and color) represented more in the media and in stores. If I’m not being ashamed of my body and embracing what I have then I feel I should see more of it in media. Women are constantly being told that their body isn’t right or could be improved, some women need to see themselves represented to understand that you’re beautiful and it’s ok to love yourself.
The powerful message #Plusisequal is on a mission to change the perception of beauty in the fashion industry. Lane Bryant is starting the conversation and setting the bar letting the world know that we (plus size women) also matter in the fashion world. In fact Lane Bryant has also stepped it this year giving us more high fashion and above all more age appropriate fashion. I’m in my 20’s and I used to find it hard to shop in LB because everything seemed to focus on the older generation, but for the past two years I’ve been rocking LB more than ever before.
At the end of the day I am plus size and I do matter, thank you to LB for taking the right steps to get the conversation started in the fashion industry. Be sure to get involved in the conversation or if you just want to know more head to plusisequal.com . Also check out some chic fall looks below featuring Lane Bryant below.
