Last month I had a few work trips booked back to back. Upon finalizing my travels I thought to myself how can I make flying easier since I’m normally late or I overpack. It’s really the little things that can make flying easier and less stressful. I finally have a simple routine when flying, here are a couple ways you can make flying easier.
Comfy Clothing– I’ll be the first to tell that I’m in straight bummy mode when I fly. If you’re going for a long flight, you’re gonna need some comfy clothes – you don’t want be to flying with any discomfort while you’re on the way to a far away country, whether you’re simply on vacation, or travelling for work or studies. If you were to join the Cultural Care Au Pair program, the flight from Europe to America is quite hefty, so you’d want to be wearing the comfiest clothes possible. I try and look for the most comfortable pair of leggings, top and shoes. Most of the time my hair is tied up. I make sure not to wear jewelry or have extra stuff on me. This makes going through the security check a breeze and I’m comfortable on the plane. And you’ll be ready for anything especially those unexpected delays.
Look for the best seat on the plane- Do you know you have up until 30/45 mins before you board the plane to change your seat? Even after that, you can still change your seat if you’re really nice to the agent at the gate. Sites like SeatExpert.com have details about each aircraft type and the pros and cons of each seat, this is perfect for curvy girls like me. And just because the seat you want is taken when you book a flight, it doesn’t mean it will remain occupied. People change flights or get upgraded to even better seats.
Download The Airlines App– If you have a smartphone this is a life saver. You can check-in right from your phone and if you don’t have to check a bag you can go straight to the security check. This also helps you keep up with your confirmation number/ticket. By using the airline’s app you’ll also but one of the first ones to know if there have been any delays.
Invest in good luggage and pack light- I know you’re probably saying aren’t you all about fashion how can you pack light? Trust when I tell you that it was hard for me at first, but try flying back and forth 3 times in one month. It’s such a pain having to carry around so many bags. I challenged myself to take only carry-on and a tote since then my traveling life has been a breeze. Looking for great luggage for all your traveling needs I highly suggest ebags (post on ebags coming soon).
For the most part, flying can be less stressful if you’re always prepared. Hopefully, this post helps get ready for your upcoming flight so you don’t have a miserable experience. Lastly, be sure to have your headphones and music ready for your plane ride.
