If chocolate, caffeine and a heating pad are your best friends for several days every month, you are NOT alone. Us women can’t seem to shake the nasty period symptoms from splitting headaches to unbearable cramps to occasionally having an inexplicably emotional reaction to something super stupid. Thankfully, when it’s that time of the month, I don’t have to rely on over-the-counter pills that may or may not actually help or go it alone. By doing these 4 simple task your period will definitely suck less.
1. Give yourself time to rest
Our body is going through a lot when it’s that time of the month, so it’s important to recognize and honor what our body is going through by allowing it to rest. If you start over the weekend, give yourself the time and space to rest during that first day. If you do need to work or have activities to do on the first day, make the effort to let yourself rest in any moment that you have time. Rest even more during your lunch and other breaks, take extra moments during your day to meditate and try to avoid doing any extra errands. Anything that doesn’t need to be done on that exact day, put it off to the next day when you’re body will have more energy to do it.
2. Eat well.
I hate feeling bloated during while on my period. I try to eat clean but I do have to have some kind of chocolate whenI’m on my period. Be sure to eat many fruits and vegetables during this time. Remember to take your multi-vitamins to get the strength that you need.
3. Take a soothing hot bath or go pamper yourself
Take a hot or warm bath once or a few times during the week bath bombs and essential oils are the best. Go ahead and light some candles, play some soothing music, and just soak. It will not only help you relax, but it will also help sooth any cramps, aches and pains that you may be having. Get a pedicure Like a new shade of lipstick, getting a pedicure provides instant gratification. Having the lady massage your legs, while she pretties up your toes and feet, is definitely a treat and will help you feel more put together.
